Beans

I was part of a reunion in my old Junior High School. We were in a huge room that looked like a lunch room but was decorated as if the room was part of a swimming pool. As I entered the room, I looked around and all my old classmates were there; I was aware that we were all older but still looked as I remembered them. I sat down on a lunch table next to a boy that in real life would tease me relentlessly. He handed me a letter where he wrote an extensive apology for treating me so horrid and also handed me a pair of earrings. I immediately put the earrings on and then a wall in the lunch room just fell away and we were suddenly on a beach. I went into the water but it looked extremely murky so I decided to get out and go home. At that point everyone decided to go home; in a single file we made our way down stairs that were gated on both sides.

Once I get outside, I walk a few steps and I am suddenly in my mothers’ home, in my old bedroom staring at myself in a mirror. I look at the earring the boy had given me and was admiring their extreme sparkling. I took one earring off to study the detail; it was a hoop earring with enormous coffee beans with glitter glued on them.
